Summary: For both new and seasoned speakers, come to Boulder for a facilitated retreat by Erin Weed to create or re-vamp your marketing and messaging for maximum bookings. Only a select number of people will be accepted to this workshop, and only one speaker per topic will be invited. The weekend workshop will give you a chance to learn, to share and to grow your business for 2010 and beyond.

Come ready to share, network  and change the world with some of the best and brightest in the speaking industry. Oh yeah - and plan to have fun doing it. This low-key but information packed weekend will also come equipped with social activities in the evenings. In case you didn't know, there is no more entertaining group of people than a bunch of professional speakers. Just sayin'.

If you've been speaking for awhile, but would like to kick things up a notch - consider this weekend as a great investment in your business. Take the time to get away, plan and ignite a new fire into your message. If you are new to the speaking business, get ready to absorb a TON of information. Rookies are encouraged to set up a few phone coaching appointments with Erin prior to arrival, so you're not completely overwhelmed. We expect all attendees to contribute with questions and responses about your experiences so we can all learn from one another. This will be a collaborative, supportive, NO DRAMA weekend of strategy and learning!

Subjects we'll address during the weekend workshop include, but are not limited to:

  • Print marketing materials: What sells, what doesn't. Bring your materials (onesheets, postcards, t-shirts, etc.) if you already have them, for assessment & feedback.
  • How to create a movement for lasting impact after you leave the stage
  • Websites: blogs, social media for speakers, search engine optimization & marketing, Facebook groups, online videos.
  • Conferences: How to select the best conferences for ROI, creative ways to get more bookings from conferences, to exhibit or not and how to get selected for keynotes/breakouts/showcases
  • Media Interviews: Nothing enhances your credibility more than being in the media, and Erin will explain how she got on shows like the CBS Early Show and CNN (to name a few) without ever having an expensive PR firm.
  • Speakers Bureaus: Who are the best, how to choose, how to leave one that isn't working for you, how to NOT be with an agency and stay busy. There are many ways to get booked, and Erin has done them all successfully. She currently works with a bureau AND has her own staff in Denver doing bookings.
  • Messaging: A great time to assess your current program. What needs updating? New jokes, facts, stats, content ideas - be ready to share snippets of your program with the group for evaluation. We'll videotape as well, so you'll leave with some video content to update your speaker video.
  • Passive Income streams: Creating other sources of income during off-season is essential. We'll go through a bunch of options to do this, including how to develop coaching programs, certifications, webinars, white papers, website subscriptions, consulting, etc.
  • Writing a Book: If you need a fire under your ass to start or finish that book, this is your perfect place to get peer pressured into it. Erin is an author who has self-published twice, and also is working with Penguin on another book project. She'll give you the pros, cons and how-to's of each.
  • Speaker Business & Marketing Plan: July & August are the most popular booking times during the year. Attendees will leave with a plan for both your personal & professional life, broken down by the month for the next 6 months. You gotta have a plan to make your dreams come true!
